The Institute for Good Governance and Policies in the Environment and Climate Change Skopje (IPECC), through a small scale contract with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), will support the process of drafting and adopting the Law on Soil Protection in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The support will be implemented within the project “Promoting sustainable land management (SLM), through strengthening legal and institutional framework, capacity building and restoration of most vulnerable mountain landscapes and improving the management of protected areas”, which is implemented by UNEP in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MOEPP), financed by the Global Environment Facility – GEF.
In addition to other activities, a draft law on soil protection will be prepared within the project. IPECC will contribute through:
- identification and planning of the stakeholders involvement in the process of drafting and adopting the Law on Soil Protection,
- analysys of the existing legal and institutional framework relevant to soil protection in the Republic of North Macedonia, and
- determination of Road map for the preparation and adoption of the Law on Soil Protection.
Through these activities, IPECC will contribute to setting the content of the draft law, as well as early involvement of stakeholders, enabling comprehensive participatory and transparent process.
